Hotel Eden Reconstruction 2011
Bratislava, Slovakia
This was my first uni project. I discovered an unfinished structer in the downtown Bratislava with a big potential. In 2007, the construction suddenly ended, but all of the main walls were already builded. I decided to keep this concrete structure and add only necessary elements into it. I chose a very simple combination of white laminate and cherry veneer, with aditional use of fabrics and metal. The main floor composes of a lobby, reception, bar and restaurant. For the flooring I used a grey carpet and a grey epoxy floor, to match the colour of old concrete. New functional spaces as a reception, bar and a toiled are get a white walls and ceilings. There was a necesity of dividing space somehow. I did not want to close the space, so I tried to use a dividing walls that will keep the space opened, but optically, they will create a separate spaces depending on a function. For this purpose, I used a horizontal wooden planks.
